Right Path

Last night pre-bed (and pre-Dateline) I was lying in bed talking to God, like I always do, as if God is right there in the room; talking aloud about well, everything; everything we didn't already talk about earlier or even if we had, let me repeat myself, God does.

Anyway, my turn to the left, grab the Student Bible that sits there on the nightstand, and randomly open, point, think silently began (this is not an out of the ordinary practice).  I opened to Luke and pointed just below the blue study box:  I read.

Though I remained silent, does not take away from thought or "absorption" of what I read.  It also does not mean God left the building, it just means, silence is key--for me.  For me; beneficial, needed, important.

Oh how many "answers" or "more questions than answers" I have with what we talked about and this Spiritual practice of Ours (I capitalize the O because it is God and me-notice me is a lowercase m).  However, the take away, bold, bright and beautiful is this:

I am on the right path!!!  And really think about a path, if you feel so inclined to do so...let's say (for example) the canal path on a walk or bike from Brighton to Pittsford Dairy - for me that is a familiar, yet unfamiliar ride; some road, some for a moment sidewalk, some grass lol, some curb-age, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends, sometimes my rear or feet hurt for a week, others not, sometimes I meet friends along the way or foes, I see familiar faces, unfamiliar, I am in my area, your area, their area, I am exhausted upon arrival, I am refreshed, then exhausted again on the way back...you get the point.

I am on the right path. Amen.

246

I always arrive early for anything and everything, just to set and "get my bearings" so to speak.  Church is a place of respite; home away from home.  One of my favorite (meditative, soothing) practices I have whenever I am at Church is to randomly open the hymnal.  In this practice my most "go to" style of reading is Lectio Divina.

This particular hymn pops for me often, perhaps it is because we sing the last stanza almost weekly in church.  Regardless, I randomly opened to 246 the Brian Wren "Christ Is Alive!" yesterday morning.  As I sat solo in the Sanctuary with this for a good while and as the hand bell choir began to practice, the one line that I felt over and over--felt is"...Love, drowned in death, shall never die."

Psalm 136 New Living Translation (NLT)

Psalm 136

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights—
His faithful love endures forever.
the sun to rule the day,
His faithful love endures forever.
and the moon and stars to rule the night.
His faithful love endures forever.
10 Give thanks to him who killed the firstborn of Egypt.
His faithful love endures forever.
11 He brought Israel out of Egypt.
His faithful love endures forever.
12 He acted with a strong hand and powerful arm.
His faithful love endures forever.
13 Give thanks to him who parted the Red Sea.[a]
His faithful love endures forever.
14 He led Israel safely through,
His faithful love endures forever.
15 but he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.
His faithful love endures forever.
16 Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness.
His faithful love endures forever.
17 Give thanks to him who struck down mighty kings.
His faithful love endures forever.
18 He killed powerful kings—
His faithful love endures forever.
19 Sihon king of the Amorites,
His faithful love endures forever.
20 and Og king of Bashan.
His faithful love endures forever.
21 God gave the land of these kings as an inheritance—
His faithful love endures forever.
22 a special possession to his servant Israel.
His faithful love endures forever.
23 He remembered us in our weakness.
His faithful love endures forever.
24 He saved us from our enemies.
His faithful love endures forever.
25 He gives food to every living thing.
His faithful love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.

"The Sweetest Valentine's finds"

On average 3 e-mail offers per day, starting with Starbucks,
January 29th, 2017
Subject:  "The Sweetest Valentine's finds"

I prefer to keep my Benjamin's in positive motion
  roof over my head
neighbor low on milk and/or bread
not just 'working' for me

not to imply I am against dropping a dime
or two,
niceties
expressions; love and care,
     thinking of you

over the top it's all become
money where your mouth is
Dollar $ign and Decimal.Point = the universal seal:

Love                                        \
Attention                                   \Selfishly Fueled
Status                                       /(think about it)
Accomplishment                      /

So many reminders and "offers" bombard our daily lives
masking exactly what we need reminding of;

"Money can't buy the most important things in life."

"The Sweetest Valentine's finds" =
living and growing into that

who you really are?

A great read, again, as I read it last year and found how I find it additionally/differently helpful in this time and space.

This is what jumps and pumps within right now: "As a matter of fact, your secret life is the real litmus test of your character: "As he thinks within himself, so he is" (Proverbs 23:7). Do you want to know who you really are? Take a hard look at your private life—especially your innermost thoughts."
"Do you want to know who you really are?
Take a hard look at your private life—especially your innermost thoughts"
An invitation for us all...

Yes.
My innermost thoughts are often very celestial/Spiritual.  It's not that I am out of touch with "reality" it's more of a I see, feel and live the best I can 'here' in the moment.

I am one who will choose the Spiritual over earthly every time...(though I am human and yes, I fail when earthly gets to be tempting time to time)

By that I mean, I live open to receive all unseen, unknown.  All God is giving to me; especially the promise of life eternally.  And the pieces shared now!
I, again, best I can 'here' live that eternal reunion and love, true love.  Sometimes almost a creating of time and space for that in the now amongst the heartbreak and sadness.  An ascension of sorts.

I am one who loves being gentle, kind, serene, playful--not an unwise folly, joyful and loving.  Greater than not those are the basis of my innermost thoughts.

First and foremost my innermost thoughts are I want to be as good and pure and disciplined as possible 'here.'  I want NOT to sin.  I want NOT to temp others to sin.  I want NOT to keep company of sin.  I want to be, carry and company Peace.

(this is not a one time shot and finished answer, always a work in process and progress)
I'd say I am wanting what God is preparing for me...
I am quiet, I am ready, I am faithful, I am wild oats sown, I am His.

For what shall I pray;
Holiest God of all,
keep me in ways that are fruitful to you and for you--
moment by moment; awake, at rest - in Spirit, body and mind.
Forgiving, loving and guiding all my earthly ways...
In Christ's name always, amen.

Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk

Middle of the night
Tap on the shoulder
<Unresponsive>
     I need you
     Slight body thrust
I'm right here
Attention gained

What's on your mind?
     Just talk to me…
You ok?
     Just talk to me..

'Home' is key for me
Sometimes my head gets lost
Best to stay in one place
I know
I go off roaming around
Here and there instead

Present moment by moment
Presence warmly felt
Selfish need kicks in
Overthinking
Cold, lonely, longing
Comfortable silence switch flipped
off
Free falling abandonment

Just because I'm not there
Doesn't mean I'm not there
Playing over and over again
Comforts me
While breaking my heart

     Why are you crying?
Just talking to you…
      You ok?
Attention gained

You're right here…

Hope

Bursts of beauty, from within
Alabaster glowing, radiance
Voice of an angel, taking flight
Unto the darkness, of my mind
Flickering Advent fantasies
Come Beloved, I welcome thee
As the warmth consumes me...

Hope
